Chinese coronavirus. The most relevant on February 1

More than 200 people became victims of a new type of virus discovered at the end of 2019, several Chinese cities were closed, and cases of infection were recorded outside the PRC, including in Russia.

Dead and injured

• According to the WHO, 9826 people are infected (9720 of them in China). Outside of China, 106 confirmed cases of infection in 19 countries.
• On February 1, the Chinese National Health Commission reported 11.791 confirmed cases of the disease.
• Taking into account the infected in all countries, the number of infected is 11 thousand 943 people.
• According to the National Commission, a virus infection is suspected in almost 18 thousand people in China, 243 were cured.
• 259 people died.

The situation in Russia

• On January 31, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova announced the identification of the first two cases of the disease in Russia. Both patients are Chinese citizens. They are located in the Trans-Baikal Territory and the Tyumen Region. Both were sent to hospitals and isolated. Persons in contact with them were also hospitalized. As later reported by local authorities, the health status of the hospitalized in Transbaikalia improved.
• The government decided to suspend the issuance of work visas to Chinese citizens, as well as to restrict air traffic, retaining only Aeroflot flights to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong.
• The Ministry of Health recommended treating coronavirus in adults with Ribavirin, the recombinant Interferon Beta Ib and Lopinavir / Ritonavir.
• An emergency regime was introduced on the border with China in the Trans-Baikal Territory. All checkpoints on the border with China are quarantined; on the eve they stopped working.
• The authorities decided to evacuate the Russians from the Chinese city of Wuhan, where they initially discovered the coronavirus, and the province of Hubei. On February 1, evacuation began through three automobile checkpoints across the state border with the PRC in Primorye.
• Russian tour operators working with China estimated their losses due to coronavirus at $100 million.

The situation in other countries

• WHO recognized coronavirus as an international emergency.
• In the United States recorded the first domestic case of transmission of the virus from person to person. An emergency mode will be introduced throughout the United States. Similar measures were previously announced by the Italian authorities.
• Countries and individual airlines restrict air traffic with China, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine have already announced similar measures.
